A sex toy party is a usually female-only gathering where participants learn about and buy sex toys, lingerie, costumes, lotions, lubricants and many other products in the privacy of there own home.
The party may start with a game to break the ice. Then a Triple 7 Treasures representative, or 'facilitator' displays and discusses all the products. Athough the discussion is sexually explicit, euphemisms such as 'button' for clitoris are commonly used. The Ladies touch, taste, feel and talk about the products and are able to purchase them from the representative in a private room at the end of the party. Other products such as bubble bath, aromatherapy, and body paints may also be sold. There are thousands of representatives of sex toy parties in theUnited States.
Sex toy parties began in the 1970s, and became increasingly popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The marketing practices of sex toy parties have encouraged many women to reach out to there consultants about their sexual practices. According to many research studies sex toy representatives are often asked for advice on sexual health, and many have a background working in sex education, health, education, or sexuality. They often get advice on how to “Spice it up” or bring the Passion back to life. The popularity of sex toy parties is suggested to be related to self help and self actualization.
